A new year brings new hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Early in the school year, students set hopes and dreams for the school year. Upon returning to school from the long holiday break, it is important for teachers to revisit those initial hopes and dreams to determine how much they have accomplished and whether or not they wish to revise them. Teachers might ask students what they have done to meet their goals so far, and what might be hindering them.
Parents/guardians can ask their children to revisit their hopes and dreams at home, too. Together they can plan to make incremental changes to achieve their goals.
Some questions to ask might include the following:
· Have you already met your hope and dream?
· Is it still important, and is it still a priority for you?
· If so, how are you going to accomplish it?
· If not, what would you like to change it to?
The start of the new year is also a time to reteach routines at school and at home. The following article offers quick tips on how to motivate children to practice them effectively.
