The first six weeks of school
Fresh haircuts, clean sneakers, sharp pencils and crayons, new backpacks and lunchboxes ~ they are all the signs of the beginning of a new school year. We move away from the long, lazy days of summer and move into the routines and expectations of the school year. For some of us, this transition comes easily. For others, however, it takes a little more work. How do we support all of our students during this transitional period? As a Responsive Classroom School, we will be implementing what is called "The First Six Weeks of School."

- Create a sense of community where all members feel a sense of safety and belonging
- Establish routines and expectations
- Explore and become accustomed to our physical environment
- Create personal goals called Hopes and Dream
- Maintains a consistent schedule including bedtime, meals, breaks, etc.
- Gets plenty of sleep and eats a healthy breakfast
- Has a comfortable, organized space to complete homework
- Takes breaks ~ get outside for fresh air, exercise, move, have fun!
